The Android operating system is installed in more than seventy percent of smartphones and tablets on the global market. Developed by Google, it is capturing the hearts of digital enthusiasts around the world. Why is it so beloved by users?

The operating system is created with open source code, so the user can make changes to the system. There is an opportunity to install the firmware of other developers, thus opening the hidden features of the device. For the same reason, every day hundreds of smartphones are turned into bricks, that is, are turned off forever.

More than half a million programs and games for all tastes are available in the Android app store. Tellingly, more than half of the content is free for the user. A minus of the market is that many applications are the same and duplicate the functionality of each other.

The Android operating system was the first to allow the user to use live wallpapers and widgets. Its appearance has always been distinguished by beauty and flexibility of customization. Many desktops allow you to arrange the widgets according to their theme. In new versions of the software, it is even possible to change their size. Competitors from Apple and Microsoft have this option only recently.

Android is one of the first to get the ability to update the software by air, that is, without using a computer for this purpose. In each subsequent version, the bugs of the previous one are eliminated. The closer the model of the device is to the top model, the longer support for updates it will receive.

Android is the first system that has been copied from cell phones to smart TVs as well. There are models of TVs that work correctly even with Google play. It is also found in navigators, laptops, mp4 players, cameras and many other devices.

Given the advantages of this OS, users are loyal to such disadvantages as a record load on the battery, compared with competitors, not the highest system stability, often low-grade applications, openness of the system to viruses and low-level security of user data.
As an afterword chip from Google: each subsequent version is necessarily named after a sweet, with the names laid out in alphabetical order, starting with apple pie, to the current version lollypop.
